Chapter History and Development

The process of establishing a Chapter of the American Society of Plumbing Engineers to serve the western region of Virginia began in September 1988. A group of engineers and plumbing design professionals from the western region of Virginia but affiliated with the ASPE Richmond Chapter contacted The American Society of Plumbing Engineers to obtain Chapter formation requirements.

Unable to meet chapter formation requirements, the group continued to meet and organized a satellite chapter operating under the ASPE Richmond Chapter Charter. The first official satellite chapter meeting was held in Roanoke, Virginia on October 29, 1991. The group elected to name the satellite chapter the Virginia Blue Ridge Region of the Richmond Chapter.

The Blue Ridge Region of the Richmond Chapter officially became an independent chapter of ASPE on December 10, 2002 when the Virginia Blue Ridge Chapter received its Charter from ASPE.
